Review
Firstly what strikes you about this mobile is its size, measuring it at just 109x60x13.5mm and a meagre 109.9 grams. Making this an easily pocketable smart phone for a variety of uses, while seemingly not being short on features.
This is a sleek new addition to the Blackberry range and utilises the traditional Blackberry QWERTY keyboard as opposed to a touch screen as introduced on the recent Blackberry Storm mobile. Many people favour this when texting or writing emails as buttons provide obvious feel and feedback. With a sizable HGVA+ 480×360 pixel crisp screen, mobile messaging and browsing is clear and concise. The 8900 includes an impressive spec 3.2MB camera which includes auto focus, auto flash and image stabilisation while allowing video recording and media streaming. It also includes a powerful Media Player, GPS navigation with Blackberry maps. Bluetooth and Wi-Fi is also included as is the ability to expand the memory with a micro-SD card.
Blackberry also claim the battery life to serve 15 days (356 hrs) on standby and 5.5 hrs talktime which is an improvement over past models.
On the downside this model doesn’t include 3G like the Storm and the outer chrome bezel is obviously fake though this doesn’t mean it won’t wear well as altogether the Curve feels well made.
Overall this is a sleek new Blackberry offering which build on their impressive history for producing functional smart phones for both business and personal use. Put simply this model improves on what Blackberry does best and people will be especially impressed by the slim dimensions of the new Blackberry Curve 8900.
